FILM SCREENING OF “LEGEND OF DESTRUCTION”
Watch a film detailing the historical event that changed the destiny of the Jewish people: the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. The recipient of four Israeli Academy Awards, the film employs a unique visual style created with 1,500 original paintings by David Polonsky and Michael Faust. TISHA B’AV ICE ACTION & REFLECTION
Join the New Synagogue Project and other Jewish congregations for Tisha B’Av to mourn and demonstrate collective resistance to the ongoing attacks on immigrant communities in Maryland. The program will include mincha (afternoon prayer), learning about concrete ways to support immigrants and other activities including banner painting. AARP SAFE DRIVER COURSE
The Pozez JCC is bringing back AARP’s classroom safe driver course. Come to this comprehensive driver retraining class, where you’ll learn to adjust your skills to compensate for changes in hearing, vision, flexibility and reaction time. The eight-hour course will be taught over two days; bring a meatless lunch or snack. Participants who attend both days will receive a certificate for a discount on insurance for three years. This event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pozez JCC, 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax. Admission is $20 for AARP members and $25 for nonmembers. ANACOSTIA RIVER KAYAK CLEANUP

Clean trash and debris from the Anacostia River while paddling in a kayak with the EDCJCC and Living Classrooms. You’ll be guided by staff certified in paddling education and CPR/First Aid. Participation is open to adults and children age 5 and older who are accompanied by an adult in their kayak. This free event will take place from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. at the Kingman Island launch point in Northeast Washington, D.C. Exact meeting spot will be shared with registrants via email. Decorate bags containing birthday cakes to send to F&F clients who are celebrating another year of life.
