Hear from Eric H. Cline, a professor of classical and ancient near Eastern studies at George Washington University. Known for his work on the late Bronze Age collapse, his book, “1770 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed”, focuses on how the late Bronze Age systems collapsed when multiple crises, including climate change, invasions and internal rebellions, struck simultaneously. The Captain Avery Museum was once the Masonic Fishing Club in 1923, which began when a few Jewish families bought the property. Due to antisemitism and segregation at the beaches of southern Maryland at the time, Jewish families purchased land so they could swim and fish. Learn about the Masonic Fishing Club, which was known as “Our Place” by the Jewish families who spent time there.
