Allen Mendel Mondzac, 88, a native Washingtonian and distinguished medical oncologist, died on Nov. 22 at home from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1936 to David Mondzac and Sally Kaplowitz. A longtime resident of Potomac, Maryland, he graduated from George Washington University College of Medicine.
Allen is predeceased by his first wife, Stephanie Patchen, and son, Benjamin. He is survived by his wife, Myra; his son, William (Beth) and grandson, Max. Among his kind and excellent caregivers were Walter Cole, Mercy and Jennie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Place in Sarasota, Florida, Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, or JSSA.
