Austin Mittler, 85, born in Queens, New York, to Janet and William Mittler, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26. He was a beloved husband of Carole Mittler; devoted father of Lisa Golden (Neal), Jaymi Schuble (Joe), Tammy Morgan (Steve), Jennifer Cohen (Jeff); loving brother of Mark Mittler (Jane); cherished grandfather and great-grandfather of Corey (Brian), Lindsay (Brett), Emma, Jordan, Justin, Jessica, Carly, Brooke, Jaclyn, Jared, Jillian and Theo.
He graduated from Dartmouth College and obtained his Juris Doctorate from NYU School of Law. He began his career at the Department of Justice before he joined Hogan & Hartson where he spent 37 years in private practice retiring as the managing director of the litigation department. At Hogan he worked on some of the most important and noteworthy criminal investigations in our nation’s history.
In his personal life, Austin loved playing tennis, taking walks with his wife and doting on his 11 grandchildren and newest great-grandchild. He will always be remembered for his loving and kind heart, his devotion to his family and his desire to help everyone around him. He led a full and blessed life and will be greatly missed.
