On July 24, Barbara Ascher of Potomac, Maryland passed away. Widow of Harold Ascher; loving mother of Matthew Ascher (Eileen) and the late Sharon Kessler (Steven); adored grandmother of Daniel, Ben, Eric, Gary (Alexandra), and Haley; and new great-grandmother of Cameron.
Barbara was a lifelong learner and a beloved teacher. After earning a Master’s degree in Special Education from Hood College in Frederick, MD, she worked for 35 years as a kindergarten teacher at the Jewish Day School in Rockville, Maryland and then for 10 years as a reading tutor. Her house was full of pencils, paper, markers, crayons, and most of all, thousands of books. Her greatest memories were the time she spent traveling with her husband all over the world and playing with and spoiling her grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish National Fund or the LUNGevity Foundation, both of which were sincerely supported by Barbara.
