Beverly Gendleman passed away peacefully on Sept. 4 at the age of 97 after suffering a stroke.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on Jan. 22, 1928 to Mack and Rose Stoller. She moved to the Washington, D.C., area as a young child and spent the rest of her life there, graduating from Calvin Coolidge High School in 1946. She married Norman Rosenberg (now deceased) on Jan. 18, 1948, and she later married Milton Gendleman (also deceased) on Feb. 25, 1977.

She is survived by her longtime partner, Moritz Cohen, Jr., her three sons — Robert (Lisa), Bruce (Arlene) and Brian (Elaine) — her four grandchildren — Claire (David Reed), Andrew (Susan), Max and Danny — and her three great-grandchildren — Graham, Naomi and Nate.

She was a kind and gentle woman, a shaper of many lives, and she will be long remembered by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly’s memory should be made to the charity of your choice or to Casey House in Rockville, Maryland.
