On Dec. 27, Charlotte Markowitz, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, passed peacefully. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Irving Markowitz. She was born in Brooklyn, New York.
Charlotte is survived by her three children, Philip, Miriam and Judith, her three grandchildren, Aaron, Ariel, and Shoshanah, and her four great-grandchildren, Naima, Ilan, Rosie and Eli. She is also survived by her devoted sons-in-law Stephen and Glen, her brother-in-law Jack, and daughter-in-law Davia.
Charlotte cherished her Jewish faith and was devoted to building a vibrant Jewish community with Irving in East Hampton, New York. She was a brilliant and accomplished community builder throughout her life making significant contributions in the arts, girl scouting, public school education, Jewish life and a full range of community enrichment. She loved literature and was an avid reader and builder of libraries. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center and JSSA Hospice of Montgomery County.
