Dr. Robert I. Keimowitz of Chevy Chase peacefully passed away on March 25 in Boston. Born and raised in upstate New York, Keimowitz earned his bachelor’s, master’s and medical degrees in the 1960s from the University of Vermont. He studied renal physiology at the National Institutes of Health before joining the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences faculty in 1970, where he served as assistant dean for admissions, dean for academic affairs and, from 1989 to 1998, as dean. Keimowitz was a longtime benefactor of American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He is survived by his wife Hazel Kahn Keimowitz; his daughters, Jessica Keimowitz (Polly Crozier) and Alison Spodek (Rabbi Brent) and his grandchildren, Hannah and Miriam Crozier and Noa and Abraham Spodek.
