With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and friend, Gayle Klein, who left us on April 28 at the age of 72, surrounded by family who loved her.
To us, she was our home. The keeper of traditions, the calm in every storm and the steady hand we all leaned on. Her love was constant, her laughter contagious and her presence a source of comfort and strength.
Gayle was born on Feb. 10, 1953, in Ohio, the eldest of two children raised by her beloved parents, Arnold and Freda (Fran) Better, who predeceased her. She spent her life caring for others — first as a nurse, and always as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She found joy in hosting gatherings, spending time with family and friends, giving back to her community and treating herself to a fresh new hairdo or makeover. Gayle was known for her warm spirit, her nurturing heart and her extraordinary ability to make friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Dr. Lawrence Klein; her children, Marni Klein and David Klein, along with David’s wife, Phoebe Harris; and her sister and brother-in-law, Hilary and Jerry Scala — all of whom will carry her love, lessons and enduring example of what it means to be a devoted wife and mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gayle’s honor to Hadassah. Mom, your love was our foundation. Your memory will live on forever in our hearts and our homes.
