The government has recommended that Rabbi Barry Freundel, who pleaded guilty to 52 counts of misdemeanor voyeurism, receive a prison sentence of 208 months – 17 years and four months.

The government believes Freundel should be sentenced to four months in prison for each of those counts that he was convicted of for surreptitiously photographing women dressing and undressing as they prepared for or exited the mikvah, a ritual bath.

Senior Judge Geoffrey Alprin of the U.S. Superior Court, District of Columbia, is expected to decide Freundel’s penalty May 15.
