On Sept. 3, Dr. Herbert Rabin of Bethesda, MD. Beloved husband of 63 years of Annie; devoted father of Elise and Marc; loving brother of the late Dorothy Ross.
Rabin committed himself to public service. He was associate director of research at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, and deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for research, applied and space technology. Thereafter, he joined the University of Maryland where he founded the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute and is remembered as a renowned champion for engineering and entrepreneurship education, and one of the most influential people in UMD’s history.
