On Sept. 1, Judith G. Gordon of Silver Spring, Maryland, beloved wife of the late Yoram Gordon, devoted mother of Gilad and Liran (Karen) Gordon, and cherished and adored grandmother of Oren (Nicole), Robert, Ari, Arielle and Eli Gordon. Judy was a quiet but major presence in the family, instilling a love of learning, a commitment to and passion for Israel and Jewish values and devotion and love of family.
Judy was a scientist before that was deemed to be an acceptable career for women. Her accomplishments included developing the concept of the now-ubiquitous red sharps bio-hazard containers. Judy earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of science degree in botany from the University of California (Berkeley).
Judy traveled widely, enjoying trips locally and around the world with her family. She and her late husband were avid collectors of Native American pottery and wedding vases in particular. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Judy’s memory may be made to Yad Sarah or a charity of the donor’s choice.
