This letter is in response to ‘Israel’s Gamble in Gaza City’ (Editorial, Aug. 28)
The Washington Jewish Week editorial board is spot-on regarding Israel’s military operations in Gaza. What the Netanyahu-led government needs to recognize is that the situation there has now become a war of public relations, which it is losing badly. The consequences of such a loss, compounded by continuous lies of genocide, could bring about a level of global antisemitism we have not seen since World War II. Perceptions unfortunately matter more than anything else.
Egypt is reportedly training recruits from the Palestinian Authority to take control of Gaza. The goal of the Israeli government needs to solely focus on that, along with some form of a security buffer zone to guard against any future invasion from Gaza.
