Unfortunately, two of the four editorials in your Oct. 9 issue were unbalanced, disappointing the readership, when the issue contained so many other informative articles.
The first editorial, “Manchester Murders Shatter Yom Kippur,” was well balanced, but the next one, “Why New York’s Mayoral Race Matters,” carefully avoided mentioning the salient point that the voters of New York City are in a tight corner having to choose between an antisemitic radical and an untruthful, failed previous governor — “damaged” and “tarnished” hardly covers Andrew Cuomo’s problems.
The third editorial, “The Machinery of Paralysis,” was reasonably balanced, but the final one, “The Trump Administration’s Misfire on Comey,” again revealed your problem of suffering from such a dislike of Donald Trump that you cannot report events in a more balanced manner. There can be no doubt that bringing charges against James Comey makes Trump appear petty and smaller, but it is even more clear that Comey conspired with others to accuse Trump of multiple offenses in an effort to destroy not just his first presidency, but his business and his family. No mention was made of this background.
Of course, those writing editorials are entitled to favor their chosen political party, but not to the extent that achievements of the other party can be ignored while glossing over major problems of the favored group.
