Meredith Jacobs, Washington Jewish Week’s managing editor since 2011, has been named editor-in-chief of the weekly publication. The change goes into effect starting with our September 19 publication.
“Meredith Jacobs brings the passion, energy and leadership experience that WJW needs to continue our mission to build and strengthen our Jewish community,” said publisher and COO Craig Burke. “We’re excited and looking forward to having her steer our editorial staff toward great success.”
A native of Philadelphia, Jacobs moved to the Greater Washington Jewish community soon after college. She is author of The Modern Jewish Mom’s Guide to Shabbat: Connect and Celebrate — Bring Your Family Together with the Friday Night Meal (HarperCollins) and co-author of Just Between Us: A No-Stress, No-Rules Journal for Girls and Their Moms (Chronicle Books).
Jacobs hosted Modern Jewish Mom on The Jewish Channel and Connecting Family on WYPR-FM in Baltimore.
She writes a monthly parenting column for WJW’s sister publication, Baltimore Jewish Times. She has also written for Jewish publications including JewishLiving, Jewcy.com, 614, The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, JTA and Jewish Woman.
She is the recipient of awards from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association, including Best in Show from the 2012 awards.
Jacobs and her family are members of Congregation B’nai Tzedek in Potomac. She is a member of the boards of trustees of Jewish Women International (JWI) and the Jewish Outreach Institute (JOI).
