Pamela Hope Kuperschmidt (nee Segal) of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, passed away on Oct. 5 after a courageous fight with a rare sarcoma cancer, MPNST. She was 65.
Pamela was the mother of Marissa (David) Kimmel, Tiffany Kuperschmidt and Joseph Kuperschmidt. She was the beloved Bubbe of Violet Kimmel, Dawson Kimmel and Grandpup Nugget. She was the sister of Matthew Segal (Maureen) and the former spouse of Harry Kuperschmidt.
Pamela was a beloved and dedicated advertising sales employee at Mid-Atlantic Media, the publisher of several community and niche magazines, including Baltimore Jewish Times and Washington Jewish Week.
“Pam came on board with Mid-Atlantic Media in March of 2021 to help us grow our parenting publication MetroKids. A year later, Pam was so excited that we had acquired Philadelphia Jewish Exponent. Pam made an immediate positive impact in helping us grow advertising revenue for JE. Pam was our number one new business acquisition sales representative in 2023,” said Craig Burke, CEO of Mid-Atlantic Media.
“She was well on her way to another great year in 2024 before this happened. Pam fought so hard. We’re so sad to lose her. Pam was not only a terrific salesperson, but most importantly, she was a great person. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family,” Burke added.
Kuperschmidt’s children said their mother was vibrant and full of life, finding happiness wherever it may be in the world.
“She was funny and she was smart, and resilient is a word everybody keeps using to describe her. Loving, vibrant, full of life. Even at the end of the days everybody felt her energy and how special she really was,” her daughter Marissa Kimmel said.
Even during her final days, Kuperschmidt emphasized to her children to “find your happiness.”
“No matter what, she always found the joy, and over the last two years, as she was sick, there was a lot of, ‘don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today’ type of feelings. You’ve got to live every day to the fullest. Nothing is too big or too small to accomplish that day,” her daughter Tiffany Kuperschmidt said.
Kuperschmidt’s children said their mother loved trying new restaurants, eating good food, shopping, traveling, the Philadelphia Phillies, watching TV and movies, pop culture, fashion, politics and, most importantly, spending time with her family.
They recalled a recent family trip to Disney World.
“It was something we’ll never forget. She, despite the challenges, went on all the rides, met all the princesses, saw the fireworks and had the best few days in Disney with her grandkids that she could despite her being sick. And it’s a memory that I think all of us will think about and enjoy, seeing her experience such happiness with her grandkids,” Tiffany Kuperschmidt said.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kuperschmidt’s memory can be made to the Steps to Cure Sarcoma Fund at the University of Pennsylvania.
