On May 22, Mina Blumberg Sweet of Silver Spring, MD, born April 16, 1929. Predeceased by her loving husband Jacob “Jack” Sweet and her sister Mildred Arrill. Mother of Ellen Sweet (Irv Gutman), Pam (Jim) Grant and Linda (Tom) Kennedy; proud grandmother of Monica Kellner (Greg), Emily Pearl (Aaron), and Brian Kennedy (Karina); and loving great-grandmother of six. She is also survived by two nieces and a nephew.
Mina started her career at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington, after earning a B.A. at Brooklyn College (Phi Beta Kappa). She continued to take courses in social work and education and retired as a paraprofessional in Montgomery County, MD Public Schools. Interests included opera, Jewish history and nature walks at Brookside Gardens. She was also an avid needleworker and Scrabble enthusiast to the end.
