Philip Weinstein of North Bethesda, Maryland, died on July 28.

He was the beloved husband of Maxine Weinstein for 66 years, devoted father of Larry Weinstein and his wife Pam Schwaber Weinstein and David Weinstein. Cherished grandfather of Carly Weinstein, Chloe Weinstein, Samantha Weinstein and Abigail Jones (Weinstein) and great-grandfather of Eli Jones. He was predeceased by his brother Joel Weinstein and his daughter-in-law Susan Dembo Weinstein.

Although having spent and loving almost the last 50 years of his life in the Washington, D.C., area, he was a New Yorker through and through. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Long Beach and a proud graduate of Long Beach High School where he not only was an exceptional academic student, but a standout athlete as well. Phil attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin where he remained a lifelong Badger supporter until his death. He had a successful career in the fashion and retail industry. And post-retirement had an equally fulfilling career spanning over 25 years, creating and running a senior recreation program in Montgomery County, Maryland, known as SOAR.

Phil was an avid golfer, fitness enthusiast and a passionate NY Giants, Yankees and Knicks fan. More than anything, he loved Maxine and his children and grandchildren.

We will miss him.
