On May 29, Robert died peacefully at age 93 after a brief illness. He graduated from the Fieldston School in the Bronx and went on to earn a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from MIT. During WWII, Bob helped develop radar technology at MIT’s Radiation Lab. Later, he worked as an electronics engineer at Sperry Gyroscope, TRW, and the FAA.
Bob especially enjoyed his work on the FAA’s NEXRAD, a technology that alerts airports of imminent weather threats. He was a cherished and loving husband to Sabina; and devoted father to Beth (Mark), Alice (James) and Marion (Thomas). Bob, an outstanding pianist and cellist who played in string quartets for many years, is also survived by grandchildren, Rachel, Sam, Albany, Anna, Jasper and Simone. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at National Funeral Home in Falls Church.
