VOICES OF OCT. 7 EREV SHABBAT SERVICE

Join Temple Emanuel for its Erev Shabbat Service featuring three survivors of Oct. 7. All are welcome to attend as the community gathers to celebrate Shabbat, remember the atrocities of Oct. 7 and strengthen the community in the face the challenges of the present and future. LUNCH & LEARN WITH KOLOT’S RESTART GROUP

Join Kesher Israel Congregation for a communal Shabbat lunch with Kolot’s Restart Group, an initiative that aims to empower 15 grassroots leaders from the Gaza Envelope to rebuild and reimagine their communities following Oct. 7. Learn from these individuals who are working on the ground in the Gaza Envelope, northern Israel and Jerusalem. Set in a Jewish deli in Frankfurt, Germany, this dramatic comedy is said to be “The Sopranos,” “Mad Men” and “The Bear” all in one. This contemporary tale of a Jewish family tells the story of the inheritance of the family delicatessen between three, soon to be four, generations of Zweiflers. In celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month, join the library and American Jewish Committee for a fireside chat with Liz Kleinrock, a Korean Jewish American and co-author of “What Jewish Looks Like.” The panelists are LGBTQ+ activist Josh Maxey, Cuban American author Ruth Behar and disability rights activist Ari Ne’eman. ELIE WIESEL: SOUL ON FIRE

Told largely through his own words and voice, this documentary seeks to dig deep into the heart of the known and unknown Elie Wiesel (1928–2016) — his passions, conflicts and legacy as one of the most public survivors of the Holocaust. The film highlights Wiesel’s biography as a survivor, writer, teacher and public figure. SPRING BEIT MIDRASH WITH HADAR DC

Join Rabbi Avi Strausberg of Hadar DC for a three-part series to dig into and reflect on some of the themes of tehillim, or psalms. Spend time learning in pairs to explore the language of key psalms from davening and learn midrashim to help uncover themes and expand our understanding of this liturgy.
