Sharon Marcy Korotkin (Lee), 60, of North Potomac, Maryland, passed away on Aug. 26. She is remembered with love by her devoted family: siblings Audrey Korotkin (Don Clippinger), Sue Korotkin, Debbie Elefant, Joel (Tierney) Korotkin, Susie (Eric) Rehr and Dave (Ronna) Korotkin; cousins Sandy Goldsborough and Alan Levy; nieces and nephews Andrew Elefant, Ashley Baratz, Scott Korotkin, Andrea Rehr, Brian Korotkin, Melissa Rehr, Mitchell Korotkin and Daniel Korotkin; and her loving lug of a dog, Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Carol Korotkin.
Sharon spent her career in the Montgomery County Public Schools system. She was an inspirational English teacher who provided a safe and nurturing environment and made her students feel seen and heard. Sharon loved to encourage young people to pursue their passions, and to discover both classic and contemporary authors across all genres. She was an aficionado of all things Star Wars, Harry Potter and Stephen King, and also had an impressive collection of Doc Martens. Sharon was smart, fun and witty, and beloved by her students, fellow teachers and staff.
In keeping with Sharon’s loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to become an organ donor so that others may live. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Sharon’s name to one of the following: Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center or Friends of Montgomery County Animals.
