The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute appointed Dr. Tevi Troy as a senior fellow for the Ronald Reagan Institute in Washington, D.C., according to a Nov. 12 press release.
Troy, a Silver Spring resident and member of Kemp Mill Synagogue, will provide his ideas and expertise on the Institute’s policy and academic programs, given his experience as a presidential historian and a former senior White House official.
He will provide strategic guidance on domestic policy, including economic and education policy, for the Reagan Institute’s Center for Civics, Education, and Opportunity, which directly impacts American society. The Center’s work embodies the “renew[al of] the American spirit and sense of purpose” by working to “ensure a more prosperous future for the country,” according to the RRPF press release.
Troy will also offer strategic guidance on CCEO’s annual Reagan Summit on Education, which unites leaders and key stakeholders in the education community, including members of Congress, leaders in the education sector, scholars, state governors, business leaders, and administration officials.
“Ronald Reagan’s intellectual legacy continues to shape the Republican Party,” Troy said in the press release. “He has given conservatives a great heritage, and it is now my honor to help extend that heritage into the political and academic arenas through my work at the Reagan Institute.”
“I’m extremely excited to work with the Reagan Institute,” Troy wrote in an email to Washington Jewish Week. “I plan to continue my writing on presidential history and what it can tell us about politics today. Also, it’s important to protect the institution of the presidency, which is a bulwark against socialism on the left and fascism on the right. Finally, I look forward to being part of the conversation about where the conservative movement goes in the future, with Ronald Reagan serving as a model and inspiration.”
Roger Zakheim, the director of the Reagan Institute, said he looks forward to welcoming Troy as a senior fellow.
“With his deep experience on Capitol Hill and at the White House as a policy advisor and director, he will be a great asset as we grow CCEO’s impact and reach into the education community,” Zakheim said in the press release.
Troy is a bestselling presidential historian, author and the former United States deputy secretary of health and human services. He has held various high-level positions over a five-year period, preceded by high-level positions on Capitol Hill.
