Some 8,000 Washington-area volunteers gathered at three Jewish Community centers and fanned out throughout the area Sunday for the annual Good Deeds Day.
Sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, with the participation of 85 synagogues and organizations, the day offered volunteers 205 service projects, including distributing hygiene and meal kits for homeless people and Holocaust survivors, preparing meals for the hungry, assembling care packages for sick children and cleaning up parks and gardens.
