On April 14, Abraham Schneider of Gaithersburg passed away peacefully on his favorite holiday. Beloved husband of 30-plus years of Alice, devoted father of Helen, Jonathan and Raymond. Predeceased by his first wife, Dvora; and also survived by loving step-sons Arnie and Marty Applebaum, their spouses and adored grandchildren Jacob, Jared and Jesse Schneider; Joseph, Paul, Lindsay and Jeremy Applebaum. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Abe graduated summa cum laude from Cooper Union. An innovative textile chemist and scientist, he invented the dripless candle. Abe was co-founder and celebrated mayor of the Village of Pomona, N.Y.
