On July 31, Adrienne Carole Kohn, 71, of Lakewood Ranch, Fla. She died peacefully after a courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind her husband, Garry Grossman, three children and their spouses, Maddy (Rob), Alli (Sam), Jonathan (Brit); two stepchildren, Elyse and Julie; and three grandsons, Ronan, Zev and Ezra. Ms. Kohn, a graduate of Duke and Harvard universities, had three successive careers, first as a seconary mathematics teacher, then as a CPA and finally as the administrator of a cardiology practice. She was known for her infectious smile, optimism and generosity of heart to those who knew her. She was a loyal friend. After her diagnosis in 2007, through her courage and intellect, she became the resource, the guide and the inspiration to many other women with cancer. Ms. Kohn was a longtime member of Temple Beth Ami in Rockville and Adat Shalom Reconstructionish Congregation in Bethesda. She served in regional leadership positions in the Reform movement and later, as High Holiday appeal chair and founding member of the Endowment Fund at Adat Shalom. She was also a member of the board of directors of Montgomery Hospice until her death. The funeral took place Sunday at Adat Shalom, followed by burial at the Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg. Contributions may be sent to the Adrienne Kohn Fund for Spiritual Growth, a newly endowed fund at Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation or to Montgomery Hospice.
