On Sunday, July 21, Alfred S. Doniger of Springfield. He will be remembered for his gentlemanly demeanor, fairness, and subtle sense of humor. He loved family, music, cooking, and baseball. His beloved wife, Adrienne, died in 2009. He is survived by his brother, Steve Doniger, and was predeceased by sisters Pearl Weinstein and Ruth Evans, and brother Alan Doniger. Devoted father of Andrew (Patricia) Doniger, Paul (Linda) Doniger and Debra (Robert) Porter; he will be missed by grandchildren Alec, Bryan, Jeremy, Kate (Corey), Sumara (Patrick), Aaron (Kaya), Jacob (Molly) and Jeffrey and great-grandchildren Juliet and Liliana, as well as many other relatives and friends. He obtained a pharmacy degree at Columbia University in 1940. He managed quality control of pharmaceutical manufacturing at Merck and Lederle Laboratories. After retiring in 1982, he served on the New York State Board of Pharmacy. After moving to Burke in 1987, he volunteered providing tax assistance.
