Allen Mandelblatt, of Silver Spring, passed away peacefully on March 24. He was the beloved husband of Sandra Mandelblatt; devoted father of David (Jill) and Michael (Janet); loving grandfather of Rachel and Sarah.

Allen was born and raised in Far Rockaway, N.Y., and later moved to the Washington. area when he got married. Allen and Sandra settled into a home in Kemp Mill Estates where they raised a family and lived for almost 60 years before moving in 2019 to Riderwood Senior Living, just a few miles away.

Allen served in the Navy and graduated from the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for local D.C. drug store institutions Dart Drug and Rodman’s Drug before opening his own store, Fairfax Drugs, in Fairfax. “Doc Al” closed out his career as a pharmacist for CVS.

Allen was a supporter of General Israel Orphans Home for Girls, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Public Broadcasting. The family wants to extend a gracious thank you to the staff and caregivers at Riderwood Senior Living for providing a wonderful environment and skilled, compassionate care.
