Anita Etzyon passed away on Nov. 2. She was 80. She was a child of the Holocaust who survived to tell her story by being hidden with a family who took her in as their own. After the war, she was reunited with her father and together they moved to Israel. There, she met her husband, Eli, at the age of 19 and with their baby daughter, Orna, moved to the United States in 1963.

A beloved teacher for over 30 years at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, as well as at local synagogues, Anita touched the lives of hundreds of students, sharing her stories, passing on Jewish traditions and keeping the Hebrew language alive. Loving and devoted wife to Eli; mother to Orna, Randy, Ron and Samantha; and grandmother to Karen, Carly, Kevin, Ariel, Haley, Talia and Jake, to whom she was fondly known as Sapi.

Never miss a story.
