Area events offering family fun on New Year’s Eve

11 a.m. and 2 p.m. — Jammin’ Java in Vienna holds its annual Rocknoceros New Year’s Eve Party for Kids, a concert ringing in the New Year and a countdown complete with an apple juice toast for all.

2 p.m.-5 p.m — Fun Hunt and free activities.; 7 p.m.-11:45 p.m. — First Night. First Night Alexandria is an annual alcohol-free family celebration, boasting lots of children’s events, including the fun hunt, musicians, magicians, face painters, storytelling, clowns, fireworks, and more. This year, food trucks will be on hand to serve food from noon till midnight. The festivities conclude with a fireworks display.

3 p.m.-7:30 p.m — Annapolis’ annual New Year’s Eve celebration is an alcohol-free family night featuring live entertainment, children’s activities, and a 7:30 p.m. countdown for families.

7 p.m.-midnight — Falls Church’s Watch Night New Year’s Eve Celebration features a variety of entertainment, performances and interactive activities. The evening concludes with a New Year’s countdown and lowering of the historic star that first lit the Falls Church sky in 1948 — the year Falls Church became an independent city.
