Art From the Heart is a new youth program sponsored by Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington, a volunteer based organization that provides services to Jewish patients and their families. Young artists (ages 6-18) from in and around the nation’s capital are invited to submit original artwork to be displayed in the BCGW Kosher Hospital Pantries. These works of “art from the heart,” by kids for kids, will brighten the day of young patients and families who use the pantries as a place of respite from medical treatment. Each month, Washington Jewish Week will feature one artist and his or her work.

Meet the Artist

Adielle Tuchman of Silver Spring, is an 11-year-old sixth-grade student at the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy. She titled her original work, “Miracles Happen Every Day.” According to Adielle, “In the spirit of Chanukah we are celebrating miracles. Each baby born is a miracle. We pray for miracles but don’t always recognize the miracles we have. Miracles happen every day. You don’t have to look very hard.”
Adielle’s art is on display at Children’s National Medical Center in the BCGW Kosher Pantry located on the third floor off the Cardiac Care Unit.
