Washington resident Rabbi Benjamin Berger has been selected for Class 5 of the Wexner Field Fellowship. Berger is vice president for Jewish education at Hillel International. In that role he oversees the Center for Jewish and Israel Education (CJIE), part of Hillel’s talent development platform. Since his arrival, the team has grown its program and impact significantly with efforts such as Dwell, its Masterclass educators’ programs and Higher Holidays.
In his earlier work at the Wexner Foundation, Berger co-founded the Wexner Service Corps program, an initiative to inspire Columbus Jewish teens to service. He then became director of the Wexner Heritage Program, an initiative to build volunteer leadership in the North American Jewish community. In 2020, he was honored as the alumnus of the year from his rabbinic alma mater, Yeshivat Chovevei Torah Rabbinical School.
