Bernard Konick, of Silver Spring, passed away on June 29. Beloved husband, for 68 years, of Rosette Konick (deceased); devoted father of Daniel Konick (Susan) of Annapolis, Anita Konick Nelson (Jerry) of Brookeville, Steven Konick (Kate Viands) of Auburn, N.H., and deceased daughter Roberta Konick; adored grandchildren Joshua Konick (Sarah Straub), Zachary Konick, Benjamin Nelson (Jacky Hess), Rei Nelson and Sage Konick; dear brother of Marcia (Konick) Feldman. Bernie, as he was known, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1927 and recently enjoyed a celebration of his 94th birthday with family, both in person and online. During the late 1940s, he played in a big band in the Catskills and other locations. He was a profound lover of music, especially big band and classical and was an accomplished alto saxophonist and clarinetist. His career took him to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where he worked as a supervisory patent examiner, reviewing applications for audio, video and digital recording technologies. While working there, he earned his Juris Doctor from National University. His family will greatly miss his sense of humor, his love of music and his desire to go to restaurants and share good food. Contributions may be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Arrangements by Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, under Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington Contract.
