Burton “Bud” Polsky passed away on July 12. Beloved husband of Maxine Polsky for 69 years; devoted father of Ellen, James and Robert (Jennifer); loving grandfather of Jessica (Kenneth), Jaclyn and Ryan; great-grandfather of Anna and Russell. He is also survived by the children of his late sister Shirley Grant, Richard Grant (Lori) and Linda Perlman (Gary). His nephew Michael Grant predeceased him. Born in Lincoln, Neb., on June 11, 1926, to Benjamin and Blanche Polsky, Bud joined the Army after high school. He was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War II. After the war, at the age of 19, he became the youngest sergeant major in the Army. Bud graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1950 with a degree in business administration. In 1952, he married Maxine, the love of his life. After moving to Washington, Bud and his business partner founded Dalmo, the second discount appliance store in the country, receiving a certificate of distinction award for the appliance store category. Later, he co-owned Evans Distributors & Jewelers, and then retired in 1983.
He served on the board of several Jewish organizations and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
