Adrianne Rebecca Berman, the daughter of Roxanne and Eric Berman of Brookline, Mass., will be married on Oct. 24 to Mitchell Israel Malasky, son of Gary and Ellen Weisberg Malasky of Washington. Rabbi Shira Stutman will marry them at The National Press Club in Washington. The couple met at a going-away party for a mutual friend in 2012. Their first date was President Barack Obama’s second inaugural ball. The bride, 29, graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Master of Public Policy degree. She worked at the departments of Treasury and State. She is now a senior associate in the public sector department of Grant Thornton LLP in Alexandria. She is the co-chair of the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) ACCESS Board in Washington, which prepares the next generation of Jewish leaders to engage the key issues facing the global Jewish community. The groom, who goes by “Mitch,” graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in theater production/American culture studies and is the media center director for the Democratic National Committee in Washington. He is co-chair for Leadership and Education on the Young Leadership Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, and on the alumni board of Georgetown Day School from where he graduated. Rafael Lev Jacob Friedlander, son of Sheryl and David Friedlander of Kensington, will become a bar mitzvah Oct. 24 at Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County. Joining in the simcha are his brother, Noah; grandparents Elaine and Gerald Libman of Potomac, and Jessica and Michael Friedlander of St. Louis, Mo.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. Heyman is perhaps best known by the public as the moderator of two television programs on Montgomery County Cable: Seniors Today and Montgomery Citizens Agenda.
