Gabriela Friedman, daughter of Michael and Noreen Friedman of Brookeville, will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on May 26 at B’nai Shalom of Olney.
Gabriela is a seventh-grade honors student at Rosa Parks Middle School, where she plays violin in the advanced orchestra and is an active member of the Student Diversity Team. An avid reader, Gabriela enjoys art projects, swimming, running, rock climbing and spending times with friends.
Gabriela is a four-year veteran of Camp Ramah in New England, where she plans to return this summer.
For her mitzvah project, Gabriela has been studying hunger in the United States and organizations that address the issue. She volunteers at Manna.
Joining Gabriela for her celebration will be grandparents Leon Friedman of Silver Spring and Elaine and Gen. (ret.) Robert Via of Summerfield, Fla., as well as other family and friends from the Baltimore/Washington area, California, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, South Carolina and Texas.
Dori Ilana Brecher was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on 7 Sivan 5778 (Monday, May 21) at Congregation Olam Tikvah, in Fairfax.
She is the daughter of Elyssa and Andrew Brecher of Springfield, and the granddaughter of Sheldon Bockman, of Duluth, Ga., and the late Pamela Bockman, of Reston, and Charles and the late Roberta Brecher, of Lexington, Mass.
Dori Ilana is a seventh-grade student at The New School of Northern Virginia, in Fairfax, and a proud member of the National Blades Synchronized Skating Teams’ Pre-Juvenile competition team.
Jonah Ethan Gross, son of Jonathan and Rebecca Musher Gross and brother of Jacob and Zachary, will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on May 26, at Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County in Bethesda.
Zachary is the grandson of Karol and Daniel Musher of Houston and Fran and Leslie Gross of Miami. He is in seventh grade at Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville.
