Dr. Scheldon Kress, of Potomac, passed away on April 5. He was 91. Beloved husband for 67 years of Rose Kress. He was a loving father to Michael Kress (Mimi), Karen Hammerman (Ira) and Julie Schumacher (Marc); a fantastic grandfather, known as the Great Scheldini, to Max, Sam (Dara), Adam (Lexi), Justin, Jenna, Jason and Brandon; and great-grandfather to Simon. He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence.
Dr. Kress was a longtime internist, practicing medicine in Springfield, Va. for more than 30 years. He then joined the FDA as a medical review officer, working until the age of 87. He was a researcher at heart, and his inquisitive mind led to his early work on the development of the measles vaccine and studies on new medications.
