Dueling pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian rallies were held outside the White House last Friday afternoon, drawing hundreds of supporters on both sides and a sizable police presence.
One week earlier, pro-Israel supporters had to be rushed from the scene in police vans
when it looked as if violence might break out. There were no arrests at this event, although
officers several times had to pull pro-Palestinian supporters away from the Israeli side, as
they chanted: “Free, free Palestine.” The pro-Israel supporters fired back a loud retort in
unison: “From Hamas!”
