On April 14, Edwin Collier, 90, of Silver Spring. Devoted husband of 62 years to Ellen Clodfelter Collier; loving father of Stephen (Sandy), Surry, Maine; Martha Riva (the late Valentin Riva), N. Bethesda,; Sarah Munsey (Dan), Philadelphia.; John (Chris), Vienna; Catherine Fiorello (Dominic), Cicero, N.Y.; cherished grandfather of Peter (Pi) Collier and the late Andy Collier; Clare, Michael and David Riva; Laura, Lisa, Ginger and Julie Collier; Anthony, Nikky and Danielle Fiorello; dear brother of Shirley Kaplan (the late Harold) and Manny (Shirley) Collier, both of Silver Spring.

Ed was a practicing attorney for 32 years and a Maryland District Court Judge for Montgomery County for 25 years. Born in Millville, N.J., in 1923, he was a graduate of George Washington University and its law school, earning a B.S. in accounting and a law degree. During WWII, he volunteered for induction on Dec. 30, 1942, and served in North Africa and Italy and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a bronze star; he later served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre; he was honorably discharged on Oct. 7, 1946. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Jewish War Veterans and the American Legion. He was also a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Silver Spring.

A memorial service was held on April 18 in the chapel at Riderwood Village, with a graveside service and internment following at National Memorial Park in Falls Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riderwood Benevolent Care Fund, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904, or the American Technion Society, 55 East 59th Street, NY, NY 10022.
