On Wednesday, Sept. 25, Evelyn F. Kaitz of Rockville and Winthrop, Mass., two weeks short of her 96th birthday, passed away peacefully at Manor Care Potomac Rehab Center. She is survived by daughters, Phyllis (Samuel) Blum and Jean (Gary) Diamond; grandchildren, Jonathan (Kate Orman) Blum, Sarah (Christian) Mittelberg, Jennifer, Gerri and Rebecca Diamond; and great-grandsons, Max and Lucas Mittelberg. She is also survived by nephews, nieces, and friends and was predeceased by parents, Gertrude and Charles Fisher, first husband, David Rosenberg, second husband, Harry Kaitz and brother, George Fisher. Evelyn graduated from Portia Law School (now New England School of Law) in Boston with a bachelor of law degree and was later awarded a juris doctor degree. She worked at Gallaudet College for the Deaf and the Department of Agriculture in statistics and economics, authoring publications and surveys. Evelyn was active in Temple Sinai as a board member, teacher, member of the sisterhood board, and was a fixture at many events. In addition to chairing the Interfaith Group at Sinai, she was a member of a Kallah group and a patron of the arts. Evelyn did intergenerational tutoring for OASIS at Ashburton Elementary School. Graveside funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 10:45 a.m. at King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church.
