VOICES OF MOROCCO & ISRAEL IN HARMONY CONCERT:

(1) GNAWA – ISMAIL BOUZIDOUNE (lead vocal) is from Casablanca, Morocco (living in DC). He will perform Gnawa Moroccan music which is inscribed on Unesco’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Abderahim Shalah (backup vocals and castanets).

(2) ANDALUSI – MOR KARBASI (lead vocal) from Jerusalem, Israel (maternal grandparents from Morocco). She will perform Andalusi Moroccan Jewish music, piyutim and songs in Haketía (Moroccan Judeo-Spanish/Ladino). Joe Taylor (guitar) and David Dagmi (percussion).

Mimouna marks the end of Passover and is inspired by the Moroccan Jewish and interfaith narratives of unity, commemoration, goodwill and friendship of neighbors.
