The first light of Chanukah appeared atop the National Menorah near the White House on Sunday evening. Lighting the National Menorah, a tradition in Washington since 1979, was arranged by American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad). Attorney General Merrick Garland spoke to the gathering as representative of the Biden administration.
