Gary H. Lebbin, of Delray Beach, Fla., and formerly of Bethesda, passed away on Nov. 21. He was 103. Born in Berlin, Germany, Gary narrowly escaped Nazi persecution, fleeing in 1938 to America, where he became a chemist at a Baltimore paint company.
Later, he founded the Duron Paint Manufacturing Company, which grew to the second largest privately owned paint manufacturer in the United States. He was a member of Washington Hebrew Congregation for 61 years and served on the board of directors for more than a decade.
Mr. Lebbin was the beloved husband of 72 years to the late Bernice H. Lebbin. He is survived by his children, Carole Sue (Phillip Spector) Lebbin and Roger (Deborah) Lebbin; his grandchildren, Daniel (Erin) Lebbin, Andrea (Mike) Rubinfeld, Adam (Molly) Spector and David (Heidi) Spector; and eight great-grandchildren.
