Cindy McCain, Green Beret blast Gwyneth Paltrow for war comments

512px-Gwyneth_Paltrow_2012 Whether you’re team Gwyneth Paltrow or not, it’s safe to say that the Goop curator and one-time Oscar winner knows what it’s like to be attacked on the Internet. “It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it,” Paltrow said at a Code Conference last week. Comparing celebrity cyber-bullying to actual war didn’t sit well with many people, including Cindy McCain and the Green Beret.

Sergeant First Class Bryan Sikes, who suffered a broken neck and back in a 2008 IED explosion in Afghanistan, projected his thoughts in an open letter to the actress on ClashDaily.com. “I can only imagine the difficulty of waking up in a 12,000 square foot Hollywood Home and having your assistant retrieve your iPhone, only to see that the battery is low and someone on twitter…has written a mean word or 2 about you,” Sikes wrote. “Let me be the first to burst your bubble: a long line at Starbucks, your driver being 3 minutes late…and a mean tweet do not constitute difficulty in the eyes of a soldier.” Paltrow has yet to respond to the backlash, but recently insisted at a tech conference that much of the hate directed toward her “has nothing to do with me.”

Snow White and Prince Charming are now parents to their own little prince! No, seriously. The Once Upon a Time costars, who respectively portray the renowned fantasy characters on the hit ABC series, welcomed a son on May 29. “This is their first child. Both mom and baby are doing great,” a rep for the couple told E! News. Goodwin and Dallas got married April 12 in Venice, Calif., in front of around 30 family members and close friends. The newlyweds had announced they were expecting a child last fall, shortly after announcing their engagement. The couple started dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of OUAT.

Goodwin recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she provided some insight on the nuptials. “I married Prince Charming,” she said. “We’re both southern, so I was literally barefoot and pregnant at our wedding. I know this is probably the most annoying thing someone can say, especially because I’m eight months pregnant…but it was the most stress-free, relaxing, beautiful day.”

Malcolm Glazer, sports owner and philanthropist, dies at 85

Malcolm Glazer, owner of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the British soccer club Manchester United, has died. Glazer died May 28, three days after his 85th birthday. He had been in failing health after suffering two strokes since April 2006.

One of seven children born to Lithuanian Jewish immigrants, Glazer took over the family’s watch parts business at the age of 15 following the death of his father. In 1999 he launched the Glazer Family Foundation, which assists charitable and educational causes in the Tampa Bay community.

Glazer had purchased the Buccaneers in 1995 for a then-NFL record of $192 million; the value has more than quadrupled. The team will remain in the family’s hands. Glazer finished acquiring ownership of Manchester United, part of the Premier League, in 2005. Fans had opposed his takeover of the club, for which he paid just over $1.2 billion. — JTA News and Features

Evan Rachel Wood sets the record straight339px-Evan_Rachel_Wood_portrait_2009

After announcing that her marriage to Jamie Bell was over, actress Evan Rachel Wood (True Blood, The Wrestler, Mildred Pierce), went on a Twitter-hiatus. Her absence didn’t last long though, as she returned to the social networking site last Friday to debunk the rumor that she hooked up with and is dating Fast & Furious franchise actress Michelle Rodriguez.

“I have never even said ‘hello’ to Michelle Rodriguez. I think it’s convenient someone chose to make up the story now and not that night,” the 26-year-old actress tweeted, referring to a May 10 event the two attended. “This is ‘journalism’ at its lowest. Complete lies made up to exploit a public separation, as if that isn’t hard enough. Disgusting. Also just because you are in a photo with someone doesn’t mean you spoke or slept together.” Rodriguez, who like Wood is bisexual, has yet to comment. Wood and Bell announced their separation last week, after 19 months of marriage.
