Herbert Howard Mintz died from pancreatic cancer on Feb. 27. He was 74 years old. Left behind to miss him forever are his wife of 51 years, Bobbe; his two daughters, Bara Hollander (Jon) and Stephanie Mintz (Noah Steinberg); his four perfect grandchildren, Andrew, Megan and Mathew Hollander, and Joseph Steinberg; two brothers, Arnold Mintz (Helen) and Bill Mintz (Lillyan); Lois and Jay Steinberg; nine nieces and nephews and 14 grandnieces and nephews as well as myriad friends and colleagues.

Herb was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 24, 1946. After attending Cooper Union, where he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering and George Washington University School of Law, Herb served for two years as a law clerk to a federal appellate judge and joined the patent law firm of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett and Dunner where he spent his entire career practicing patent litigation, including an appearance before the U.S. Supreme Court.
