Obits_Irving_FleishmanOn Nov. 6, Irving Fleishman, 89 years old of Silver Spring. Son of the late Morris and Freida (Finn) Fleishman, brother of the late Rose Fleishman, the late Evelyn Lazar and the late Jake Fleishman.

Born in Washington on Jan. 12, 1926, he graduated from Coolidge High School. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific and at the liberation of the Philippines. He received his B.S. and LLD from George Washington University where he was a member of Phi Alpha Fraternity. He passed the D.C. Bar exam, but never practiced law.

He entered the real estate business buying and selling residential properties, built small apartment buildings and industrial warehouses and became a commercial leasing agent. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Benjamin Franklin/Samuel Gompers Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Shriners and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

He was the loving and devoted husband of Linda Mae Kessler Fleishman (nee Jelinek), and the late Betty Fleishman (nee Sickle), the loving father of Caryn Fleishman and Hope Kramer. He was the caring stepfather of Geri Lynn Kessler (Matthew Hein), Karen Gail Kessler (John Angelo), and Richard Alan Kessler (Ellen). He was the treasured and adored grandfather of Brooke, Seth (Emily) and Jacob Kramer; Jordan and Austin Angelo; and Rachel and Liza Kessler, as well as great-grandfather of Ayden Kramer and newborn Hudson Kramer.

He was loved by many, and will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
