Orthodox organizations in Greater Washington have declared Oct. 26 to Oct. 30 “I Support Israel” week and have designated a special [designated an activity] activity for each day.
Today, organizers are asking people to wear blue and white, take a photograph of themselves and then post it to their Facebook page. People also are encouraged to tweet their support using the hashtag #isupportisrael.”
On Thursday, [organizers have asked] people are asked to dedicate 15 minutes to learning about Israel, and on Friday, they should sing Achenu. That prayer asks for God’s help for Israelis who are threatened.
People also are asked to reflect on the violence in Israel before kiddish.
Earlier in the week, the “I Support Israel” event urged people to say one chapter of Psalms on Israel, and on Tuesday to donate to a charity in Israel.
The week-long showing of support is sponsored by Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy, Beth Joshua Congregation, Kemp Mill Synagogue, Beth Shalom Congregation and Talmud Torah, Ohev Sholom – The National Synagogue, Woodside Synagogue Ahavas Torah and Young Israel Shomrai Emunah of Greater Washington.
