Jean Samet, of Reston, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 6. She was 88. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Seymour; her five children and their spouses, Lawrence (ex. Amy), Michael (Judy), Craig (Gwen), Ellen Stept (Bob) and Linda Alberte (John); nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jean was born, grew up and married in Chicago. She received an associate’s degree from Herzl Junior College in Chicago in 1951. Jean and Seymour met in their first semester at college in an English fiction class where the seating was alphabetical with Schwartz sitting behind Samet. Jean and Seymour moved to Buffalo 1955, where they started their family and lived there until moving to Reston in 1976. Contributions may be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
