Jorge Litvak, 92, died on Aug. 13 at his home in Bethesda. Beloved husband of Paula Litvak; loving father of Joanna Ehat (Grant), Alexandra Landow (Oliver) and Juan Pablo Litvak (Christiane); cherished Tata of grandsons Nate, Alex, Nick, Zack and Theo.
He was born on May 2, 1929, in Antofagasta, Chile, to Mauricio and Juanita. He was the last survivor of four brothers, Mario, Sergio and Agustin, with whom he remained close throughout their lives. He graduated from the University of Chile School of Medicine, where he became the youngest professor of medicine, dean of the medical school and eventually was named provost. He moved his family to Washington, D.C., in 1974 where, at the World Health Organization, he led efforts against non-communicable diseases in Latin America. Services entrusted to Joseph Gawler’s Sons.
