On Tuesday, April 9, Joseph M. Homes, the eldest child of Jacob Homes and Minerva Katz Homes. A passionate artist, political activist and conservationist who loved poetry, music, and films, he was a man who lived life in full. He attended the Corcoran School of Art, Yale School of Art and graduated from George Washington University. Joe cared deeply about the world around him and was active in numerous art and political organizations including the Senior Artist Alliance and the Grey Panthers. He is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis Homes; two children, Jon of Washington, D.C., and A.M. Homes of New York; a granddaughter and sisters Rita Ogrin and Edie Dugoff. He was preceded in death by his sisters Hannah Gerstein, Evelyn Gottlieb and Belle Levin. Memorial contributions may be made to YADDO, P.O.
