Joshua Evan Bluestein, 14

On Aug. 6, Joshua Evan Bluestein passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, of complications after a 3½ year battle with leukemia. Beloved son of Leigh Ann and Andrew Bluestein, he also is survived by his sister, Sarah, and grandfather, H. Jack Bluestein, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Miriam J. Bluestein, and maternal grandparents, Maureen F. Curlee and Mason C. Fink. Joshua bravely fought his disease through two bone-marrow transplants and numerous clinical trials. He died cancer-free, but his body was too weakened to fight off the continued barrage of complications. Joshua’s beautiful presence and amazing perseverance charmed and amazed all who came to know and love him. He will be missed every second of every day. A celebration of Joshua’s life was held Aug. 8 at Temple Beth Ami in Rockville. Memorial contributions may be made to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, Department of Pediatric Oncology, with the designation of pediatric leukemia research, Camp Sunrise or the Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation.
